A resource is anything occupied for the time of an appointment other than the specialist: a room, chair, couch, table, hall, court, sauna, studio, training machine or rental bike. Master Clients makes sure two clients aren’t booked into the same resource at the same time, shows resources as calendar columns and, if needed, opens them for online booking on your company page.
Not every business needs resources. If clients book only with specialists and an appointment occupies nothing but their time, you can skip this section: the calendar, online booking and cash desk work without resources. That’s why a new company gets no resources by default.
Examples for different businesses#
| Business | Resource types | How it is booked |
|---|---|---|
| Beauty salon, massage, clinic | Room, chair, couch | With a specialist: the client books a specialist, the resource is occupied together with them |
| Café, restaurant, hookah lounge | Table, VIP room | Self-service: the table itself is booked for a time |
| Billiards, gaming or PlayStation club | Billiard table, seat, console | Self-service, often with an hourly rate and open-ended time |
| Tennis, padel, football, pool | Court, pitch, lane, hall | Self-service or with a coach |
| Photo studio, rehearsal space | Hall, studio | Self-service, hourly |
| Bathhouse, sauna, rental | Sauna, bike, equipment | Self-service, with a break for cleaning or preparation |
Types and resources#
The Resources section has two levels:
- Type — a group of similar resources: “Room”, “Billiard table”, “Court”. A type has a singular and plural name, an icon, a colour and default rules: how it is booked, schedule, services, staff, rate, online booking, fiscal settings.
- Resource — a specific “Room 1” or “Table 5”. It takes its type’s rules. If a resource needs something of its own (a different rate, its own schedule, a separate list of services), set it in the resource window; an empty field means “same as type”.
With one type, resources are named after it in the calendar and appointment window, e.g. “Rooms”. With several types, the generic word “Resources” is used. The menu item is always called Resources.
How to set up#
- Open Resources and click + Type (or “Add a resource type” on the empty page). You can start from a template — “Rooms”, “Tables”, “Courts” — and adjust it.
- Choose how the type is booked: “With a specialist” or “Self-service”. For “With a specialist” you can select the staff who work with these resources.
- Click Add or + on the type card and create resources: name, description, calendar colour, branch, up to three photos.
- Book a client in the calendar: resources appear as columns (the “By resources” view) and in the appointment window.
The section page has a Take a page tour button — a short walkthrough that highlights step by step where everything is. You can start it at any time.
With a specialist or self-service#
| With a specialist | Self-service | |
|---|---|---|
| Example | Massage room, hairdresser’s chair | Billiard table, court, hall |
| What is chosen when booking | Specialist and service; the resource is matched to them | The resource itself and the time |
| Online booking of the resource | No — the client books a specialist | Yes, if “Website → Online booking” is enabled |
| Price | Service price | Hourly rate × time (or service price) |
Working hours#
A resource uses the first schedule that is set:
Working past midnight is set with an end earlier than the start (10:00 — 02:00); around the clock is 00:00 — 00:00. Outside the schedule the resource can’t be booked online, and the calendar shows the time as non-working.
A break between bookings (cleaning, preparation) is set on the type: the next appointment can’t be placed right after, either in the calendar or online.
Hourly rate and open-ended time#
- Hourly rate: the appointment price is rate × duration. It is set on the type; a resource can have its own (0 — no hourly pricing).
- Open-ended time: the administrator sets an approximate time, and when it passes the session extends automatically until it is finished in the calendar. A running session is marked with a stopwatch icon and the amount grows with time. While the session is open, the next appointment can’t be placed in this resource — the system will ask to finish the current one first.
Reminders about resource bookings are sent the same way as for appointments with specialists — according to the company’s notification settings.
Online booking and website display#
The type’s Website block has three modes:
- Online booking — the client picks the resource, duration and time on your company page. Available for self-service types shown in the calendar. The type can define durations to choose from, a time step and online prepayment (if online payments are connected).
- Show with a “Call” button — resource cards with photos and prices, booking by phone.
- Don’t show — resources are visible only in the account.
A resource can be shown more modestly than its type (e.g. “Don’t show” while the type has online booking), but not more.
Calendar and sales visibility#
- Show in calendar — turn it off if you don’t need resources as columns. You can still book them from the appointment window, but online booking is then unavailable.
- Show in sales — the resource can be selected in the header of the “Sale” window and linked to a receipt, e.g. a café table.
Things to know#
- Drag to reorder types and resources — the calendar and website use the same order.
- Resources are part of the subscription plan: some are included in the base package, and each additional enabled resource adds to the price. Disabled resources (the “In use” switch) are not counted; disabling a type does not disable its resources by itself.
- With several branches, a resource belongs to its branch and is shown only there.
